- The course consists of 4 modules of 2h 30min each, as detailed below:
- 3 June - 8.30-11.00 - The mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, (Prof. V. Ferrante) -
- 3 June - 11.15-13.45 - Emission from livestock waste, (Prof. M. Guarino)
- 4 June - 8.30-11.00 - Livestock valorisation: nutrients recovery and soil impact, (Prof. F. Tambone)
- 4 June - 11.15-13.45 - Management and treatment of livestock waste, (Prof. G. Provolo)
Total: 2 ECTS
The course is organized through 4 seminars in order to comprehensively clarify the various aspects concerning the impact of livestock production on the environment. Starting from the analysis of the main management and treatment techniques, we will move on their impact on the atmosphere and the problems related to the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance. Finally, the course will conclude with a focus on the possible valorisation of effluents in agricultural and energy fields.

Dear PhD Students,
I am just back to Italy after a short scientific campaign in Africa. It is a difficult moment, but we will do our best to guarantee the prosecution of the teaching activities, including PhD courses.
I am therefore preparing all the material for the course in multivariate statistical analysis and a series of videos that of will replace the lessons. These materials will be available on the Ariel online platform (https://rambrosiniamdeam.ariel.ctu.unimi.it) before the scheduled time of each lesson.
I will also be available on the online blog in Ariel during the scheduled time of lessons to answer your questions.
At the end of the course, credits will be granted to those that will have attended > 70% of the lessons, based on individual accesses recorded by the Ariel platform.
For any question, please do not hesitate to contact me.
With kind regards,
Roberto Ambrosini
- The curse aims at introducing some advanced multivariate statistical methods widely used in the analysis of ecological and environmental data, like cluster analysis, principal component analysis (PCA) and redundancy analysis (RDA). These methods are commonly applied also to data matrices obtained from molecular and sequencing methods, like relative OTU abundance or patterns of gene expression.
