Research interests

Research activities are focused both on present climate and on climate variability and change for Italy, the Alpine Region and the Mediterranean area. Research topics cover a wide range of issues, including:

  • Analysis of observational (temperature, precipitation, pressure and solar radiation) and climate scenario records for the detection of climate variability and change and study of the underlying physical processes. The time period usually spans over the secular scale.
  • Geostatistic procedures for the projection onto high-resolution digital elevation models of present climate (climatologies) and climate variability and change; application of the same procedures to climate scenario data, after their downscaling to the local scale.
  • Study of climate change impact with reference to issues concerning civil protection, energy, agriculture and other environmental research fields.
