Research interests

We have very broad interests in evolutionary biology, behavioural ecology, and biodiversity conservation. Most research is focused on the ecological and evolutionary determinants of phenotypic variation in behavioural, morphological and physiological traits. The main topics include the evolution of bird migration systems, migratory connectivity and movement ecology, as well as physiological adaptations to variable environments. Part of our research deals with the effects of anthropogenic phenomena such as climate change, pollution and agriculture on demography, phenology and conservation. Main model organisms are birds, mostly in the field, but our interests also cover other taxa. We have established a large network of collaborations with researchers worldwide.
